Naming Compounds

Naming compounds can be a daunting task if you don't know the right way to go about it. You can't memorize chemical names. You need to learn a system that will outline a method for you to name hundreds of chemical compounds.

Yes, this system will require some effort. But if you learn the system, you will be able name hundreds if not thousands of chemical compounds.

  • Roots, Prefixes and Ions
You must also know the roots, the numeric prefixes, the metal ions and the peridic table. These are prerequistes for learning how to name chemical compounds.
  • Polyatomic Ions
Polyatomic ions are covalently bonded groups of atoms that act as an ion.
